The Texas Alliance of Recreational Organizations (TARO) invites you to participate in this allied association event at the Houston Racquet Club. This event is open to all club industry professionals and allied association members. We're pleased to welcome two influential club industry leaders who advocate for the industry on a daily basis!
Chava McKeel
,
Golf Course Superintendents Association of America
Director, Government Affairs
McKeel directs and manages programs and activities of the government affairs department to advance the overall image of superintendents and the industry. She provides regulatory compliance information to GCSAA members to establish themselves as experts on managing risk at the facility. McKeel earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and geography from the University of Kansas and worked in the Kansas State Senate.

Henry Wallmeyer has more than 15 years of experience in association management, focusing on organizational development, marketing, membership and advocacy. Wallmeyer began his association career at the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) where he directed Premier Club Services and was director of industry affairs. He represented CMAA on industry wide initiatives and oversaw operational, legislative and regulatory issues affecting private clubs.
In addition, we will be joined by TARO Lobbyist and former Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, Gib Lewis.
Gib Lewis
- Legislative Outlook for the Texas Club Industry
Lewis entered politics in 1969 when he won election to the River Oaks City Council. Fort Worth-area voters elected him to the Texas House of Representatives in 1971.Elected speaker for the first time in 1983, Lewis became the first to hold that office for five terms. He played a key role in securing passage of the state's 1984 education reform bill.He also steered passage of the 1985 comprehensive Texas Water Plan. An avid hunter who is also interested in wildlife conservation, Lewis wrote legislation creating "Operation Game Thief" and was co-author of the Uniform Game Management Act of 1983. Lewis currently works as a lobbyist and legislative consultant for TARO.
