for Continuing Education Credits

The Texas Alliance of Recreational Organizations (TARO) invites you to participate in this allied association event at Dallas Country Club.  This event is open to all club industry professionals and allied association members (CMAA, GCSAA, PGA, USPTA, TCA, etc).  We're pleased to be joined by two of the most influential legislative advocates for clubs on the State and National levels.
  Gib Lewis, TARO Lobbyist

Lewis entered politics in 1969 and began serving in the Texas House of Representatives in 1971.  Elected speaker for the first time in 1983, Lewis became the first to hold that office for five terms.  Lewis currently works as a lobbyist and legislative consultant for TARO.  Speaker Lewis will report on the most recent 86th Legislative Session and the state outlook for the Texas club industry.
  Brad Steele, Private Club Consultants

Brad Steele has been an integral part of the private club industry for nearly 15 years. He is the founder of Private Club Consultants, a Washington, DC-based firm providing in-depth legal and operational answers for club leaders on matters ranging from legislative and regulatory issues to protecting their club’s private and tax-exempt status.

Navigating the Swamp: Your 2019 Washington Update
This session will provide a behind the scenes look at what’s happening on Capitol Hill. We’ll focus on legislation impacting clubs’ bottom lines as well as regulations like the DOL’s new Overtime Exemption Rule, Joint Employer Rule and others. With the presidential primaries almost here, we’ll also take a peek at the 2020 elections to see what they could mean for the private club industry.

Protecting Your Club's Private and Tax-Exempt Status: What Every Club Leader Needs to Know
This presentation will explain why your private and tax-exempt status are so important, how to deal with challenges to them, and how you can actually run a successful club while protecting each.
